Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden
The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden grows on the swiya of the shíshálh people (Sechelt) on the Sunshine Coast of B.C. Our organization’s mission is to collect, propagate, and maintain plants, primarily of the Pacific Northwest region, for the purpose of education, conservation, display, and enjoyment. We aspire for the Garden to be a diverse botanical world where people can cultivate a relationship with nature and move forward as good stewards.
We take inspiration from this land, its history as a forest (logged about one hundred years ago), a food farm, and latterly as a tree farm. Through propagation and plant collection, and the demonstration of sustainable and organic horticultural practices, we aim to protect and enhance the biodiversity already present, including both rare and familiar plants suitable to our changing climate.
