Explore Vancouver’s North Shore

Start your day at Lighthouse Park, a 75-hectare seaside park, and the Lower Mainlands’ largest area of rainforest. This park gets its name from the over 100-year-old lighthouse that stands at its southern point. The last standing first-growth Douglas fir forest in Vancouver, Lighthouse Park is the perfect place to enjoy the North Shore’s unique vegetation, beaches, and incredible ocean views.

This pollinator garden was started by a group of community members to provide a haven for butterflies, bees and other pollinators.

The Spirit Trail is a multi-use greenway that runs across Vancouver’s North Shore from West Van to Deep Cove. There’s plenty to explore along this waterfront path like The Shipyards District and Lonsdale Quay. Rent an e-bike at Reckless Bikes or enjoy the path on foot.

The Lonsdale Quay Market is the perfect place to grab some lunch or a coffee. There are plenty of food vendors and restaurants offering all types of cuisine, over 50 shops and stalls to explore, indoor and outdoor seating, and some beautiful oceanfront views.

This traditional Japanese garden is a hidden gem tucked away on North Vancouver’s waterfront. Opened in 1986, this garden was originally built by Toshimasa Ito to house two traditional Japanese stone lanterns that were gifted from Chiba to the City of North Vancouver.

The Shipyards District is located in historic Lower Lonsdale. Recently developed, this spot is now a bustling community centre home to boutiques, galleries, restaurants, breweries and bars, as well as a scenic waterfront path and a large outdoor area. Treat yourself to a delicious seafood dinner at Pier 7. They specialize in upscale seafood but offer options for every palette, including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian items. Enjoy your meal with a view of Downtown Vancouver on their waterfront patio. 

After a long day of adventure, it’s time to rest up at the beautiful Seaside Hotel. This modern boutique hotel is located right on the water at Lonsdale Quay, with striking views of Downtown Vancouver and a perfectly central location.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge is an iconic Vancouver attraction. This 450-foot-long bridge provides a thrilling experience, suspended above the Capilano River amidst the lush rainforest. Next, make your way to Park & Tilford Gardens, a serene botanical oasis providing a peaceful escape from the city. This hidden gem showcases meticulously landscaped gardens, colourful flower beds, and winding pathways. Explore themed gardens like the rose garden and the serene Japanese garden. For lunch, swing by Wildeye Brewing, one of North Vancouver’s popular craft breweries. Enjoy modern comfort food in their bright and spacious taproom.
