The beloved outdoor festival of lights begins on Friday, December 2.

Milner Christmas Magic returns this year with an expansion into the new Rhododendron Species Garden, all lit up in colour.

The annual event hosted by Vancouver Island University’s (VIU’s) Milner Gardens & Woodland offers visitors a dazzling experience walking through thousands of twinkling lights strung along the garden paths, and includes festive window displays within the historic Milner House and charming Gardener’s Cottage.

“We’re looking forward to hosting our community, bringing together families and friends for a memorable holiday experience,” said Geoff Ball, Executive Director of Milner Gardens & Woodland.

Stop by the Gingerbread Gift Shop to find something unique for everyone on your holiday shopping list. Visitors can also drop off their letters to Santa in the North Pole Mailbox, and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves. Hot food and refreshments are available for purchase in front of Milner House – the perfect remedy for a cold December night.

Milner Christmas Magic runs from December 2 to 4, 9 to 11 and 16 to 21 from 5 to 8 pm, with viewing up until 8:30 pm. Admission is by a suggested donation of $5 for adults, $2 for children and $12 for a household.

Sincere gratitude goes out to all the volunteers who donate their time and energy to make this happen, and to the generosity of the event sponsors: Windsor Plywood, Coastal Community Credit Union, Ian Lindsay & Associates – RE/MAX of Nanaimo, McGorman MacLean – Chartered Professional Accountants, Parksville Heavy Equipment, Quality Foods, The Beach FM 88.5, The Lounge FM 99.9, The Wave FM 102.3 and Vivien Sears – RE/MAX First Realty.
